30, 40, 50 Club
The 30, 40, 50 club is an ‘Endurance Initiative’ which we are running during our P.E. lessons, afer school and break/lunch time.
Children are encouraged to walk, jog or run a measured mile on the school yard or on the field. Children record the amount of miles they’ve achieved on a chart in the corridor and are awarded a certificate of achievement when they reach various milestones, e.g. 30 miles, 40 miles and 50 miles.
If you want to get fit, healthy and build your stamina, come and have fun in the club every Tuesday.
‘I like 30,40,50 because children are encouraged to walk, jog or run a mile. Mr Cooper and Miss Sarah are very encouraging. If you want to get fit and healthy and build your stamina, then start going now!!!’

Cooking Club
Cooking is an essential skill for life, therefore the earlier children learn how to cook, the better.
This year we have run a fun after school cookery club for the infant children, which has proven to be a huge success, with a waiting list of children wanting to take part. The children have learned how to create several healthy meals and have developed their cooking and fine motor skills in the process.
If you would like further information about when the cooking club will be held this year, please click on the timetable link on the main ‘clubs’ page.
Dragon Sport / Campau’r Ddraig
Dragon Sport is FREE to attend club and focuses on different sports each term.
Dragon Sport is a Sport Wales initiative funded by the National Lottery, designed to offer 7-11 year olds fun and enjoyable sporting opportunities.
The scheme broadens the sporting interests of children who already take part in sport and to involve children who currently lack such opportunities outside of their school PE lessons.
Dragon Sport introduces children to coaching, skill development and appropriate competition using versions of the adult game, modified to meet their needs and skill levels.
A portfolio of eight modified sports is used in the scheme and these will be alternated each term. The eight Dragon Sports are:
- Rugby
- Athletics
- Cricket
- Football
- Hockey
- Netball
- Tennis
- Golf
Whilst the primary focus of Dragon Sport is improving sports provision for 7 11 year olds across Wales, Dragon Sport also focuses on recruiting parents and other volunteers as helpers to support the development of after school and community sports clubs.
If you would like to become a Dragon Sport volunteer after school, please come to see Mr Cooper for more information.
‘I love going to after school Dragon Sports Club because it helps my skill and my ability in different sports.’

Film Club
Our Film Club encourages the children to learn through and about film. They will be provided with a wide range of activities to encourage them to watch, understand and make their own films.

Children develop their writing skills by writing reviews about the films they’ve watched both on the school blogging website and through the FilmClub website. They will receive a bowl of popcorn and a drink during the club for a small fee to complete the cinema experience. The display in the corridor will be updated weekly with examples of the children’s reviews, as well as information about upcoming films.
Fishing Club
Fishing Club has been held for Year 6 pupils and tutored by Mr Fred Burton (a local fishing expert) on aspects such as making their own flies, learning about different types of fish in our local rivers and lakes and learning how to cast. The club culminated with the children doing some actual fishing and catching brown trout.
‘I love fishing club because it is fun and it has helped me to develop my fishing skills to help me catch a fish’

Children have been taking part in our brand new after school Golf Club at G.O.Sports & Leisure. They’ve had the unique opportunity to develop their golfing skills through expert coaching and by using their state of the art golf simulator, which can present the children with actual statistics about their performance. As well as this, the children have also developed their putting skills by playing games of mini-golf against each other.
Who knows, maybe we’ve inspired the next Ian Woosnam and we may have a golfing star of the future amongst us.
Pottery Club
Our Pottery Club provided the children with the opportunity to explore the world of clay and produce amazing jewellery, animals, treasure troves and bonkers buildings through the introduction of various clay hand-building techniques.
Coiling, slab-building and sculpting were taught and children were given demonstrations of each process throughout the term with the intention to produce an exciting piece specific to each hand-building technique.
Completed pieces were decorated by the children, using various techniques and splashes of colour.

The children will be developing their passing and tackling skills, as well as develop their tactical knowledge of the game.
