Safeguarding / Wellbeing

Welcome to Richmond Park School’s Safeguarding and Wellbeing Page

At Richmond Park School, the safety, happiness, and wellbeing of our students are of paramount importance. We believe that every child has the right to learn and grow in an environment that is safe, nurturing, and supportive. As the Headteacher, I am committed to ensuring that our school provides a secure and inclusive atmosphere where all members of our community feel valued and respected.

Our Approach to Safeguarding:

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Richmond Park School. We adhere to robust policies and procedures to safeguard our students from all forms of harm, including neglect, abuse, discrimination, and bullying. Our dedicated Safeguarding Team works tirelessly to promote the welfare of our students and to create an environment where they can thrive.

Key Principles:

  1. Prevention: We believe that prevention is key to safeguarding. Through education, awareness-raising, and early intervention, we aim to prevent issues from arising and to equip our students with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe.
  2. Protection: We are committed to taking prompt and appropriate action to protect any student who may be at risk of harm. Our staff are trained to recognise the signs of abuse or neglect and to respond effectively to any concerns that may arise.
  3. Partnership: Safeguarding is a shared responsibility, and we work closely with parents, carers, external agencies, and the wider community to safeguard our students. By working together, we can ensure that our students receive the support and protection they need to thrive.

Supporting Wellbeing:

At Richmond Park School, we understand that wellbeing is essential for learning and development. We are committed to promoting the emotional, social, and mental wellbeing of our students through a range of initiatives and support services. This includes:

  • Wellbeing Curriculum: We provide a comprehensive wellbeing curriculum that equips students with the knowledge and skills they need to understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, and develop resilience.
  • Pastoral Care: Our dedicated pastoral team provides ongoing support to students, offering a listening ear, guidance, and advice whenever needed. We also have a network of peer mentors who offer support to their fellow students.
  • Access to Support Services: We work closely with external agencies and support services to ensure that our students have access to the additional support they may need, including counselling, mental health support, and family support services.
